Selection Committee

The Selection Committee for the BC Conservation & Biodiversity Awards is a uniquely structured committee comprised of representatives from prominent BC conservation organizations and academic institutions. Members of the Selection Committee meet annually to choose the year’s award winners. Currently, the Selection Committee is comprised of representatives of The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Sierra Club of BC, the Wilderness Committee, The Nature Trust of BC, The Faculty of Environment, Simon Fraser University, The Faculty of Forestry, UBC and The Faculty of Environment, University of Northern BC.

Terms of Reference

These Terms of Reference may be amended at any time, with the signed agreement of the Selection Committee (the Committee).

Materials submitted with or in support of any qualifying application shall be received on the condition that:

  • The Committee shall not return such materials or any portion thereof to the applicants;
  • The Committee may make such disclosure of the names of applicants and of the contribution disclosed in such material as the Committee considers appropriate;
  • In the case of award winning applicants, the Committee may also utilize photos, award videos and additional information as it deems appropriate; and,
  • No claim shall be made and no action shall be brought against the Committee or its affiliate organizations arising out of the use of such material or any such disclosure.

The applicants agree that disclosure of material submitted with, or in support of, his/her application does not breach the terms of any contract of employment or any other contract and that he/she is entitled to make use of the material.

The decisions of the Committee are final.

Confidentiality

While the evaluators are asked to keep their findings in confidence we cannot guarantee confidentiality.

The BCCB Award winners will be celebrated publicly each year with a press release and the BC Minister of Environment will be informed.
